Work at Home: A Legitimate FEE-FREE Site

03.16.2009

Dear Everyone,

With the economy the way it is these days, we are all looking for new ways to make an income. I got a new part time job, right up my alley that I am thrilled with and here is where I found it: http://workathomemafia.com. They have a great newsletter too, which you can find at: http://newsletter.workathomemafia.com.

The reason I am so passionate about this site, is that it WORKS and it won't cost you a dime. They have a forum where you can find listings, they have a newsletter and the main home page listed above has a listing of over 750 legitimate, real companies. There are many different categories and if you can't find something that you like on either the company listing or the forums, then I don't know what to tell you.

There are NO fees to join the Mafia either and you will find lots of support. I am an avid watcher of ABC's Good Morning America and have tried some of the sites that Torry Johnson has suggested; but I had no luck.

Maybe they should ask Kim, the "Mafia Princess" to be on their show. I love this site and since I was referred to it, have been referring others to it.

Ms. Princess, YOU ROCK. Keep up the great work you do for all of us. We really appreciate you!

Thank you for your site. May you be celebrating anniversaries 50 years from now!

Rottweilers in need of homes

02.27.2009

This was passed on to me by Dr. Nancy Kay, DVM

If any of you have or know of a good home please contact her. Her info is at the bottom of my post.

Victims Come in All Sizes
As I was hanging out in the midst of our busy hospital treatment room during emergency hours a few of nights ago I was impressed at how much was going on all at once. On one treatment table was a pregnant Chihuahua experiencing difficulty passing her pups. On another table was a thirteen-year-old dog in a state of shock after trauma inflicted by other dogs in the neighborhood. An anesthetized kitty with a urinary tract blockage was being tended to on a third table. Things got even busier when a receptionist entered the treatment room with two stray Rottweilers in tow. The woman who dropped them off said she found them in a local shopping center parking lot. Both Rotties were gorgeous with wonderfully sweet dispositions.- their little stub-tailed hind ends wiggled frantically in response to our attention. Additionally, it was apparent that both dogs were profoundly pregnant.
We hoped these two girls just happened to have busted out of their yard- perhaps a gate had been left open. We envisioned an anxious family frantic to find their pregnant dogs. Our optimism quickly dissipated as we discovered no collars, no identification microchips, and no one searching to reclaim their lost dogs in spite of our efforts to let every local shelter, pound, and veterinary hospital know about our new charges. Looking back, it seemed a bit suspicious that the woman who dropped them off happened to have a crate in the back of her truck large enough to hold two large dogs.
We turned one of our visiting rooms into a whelping pen and over the course of three hours our two strays morphed into twelve as one of the dogs delivered 10 beautiful, healthy pups. Some of them looked like “mom”, others revealed that “dad” was something other than a Rottweiler. Mama was a natural- licking and cleaning- doing everything just right, including letting complete strangers cut umbilical cords, inspect puppies, change bedding, and take her out for potty breaks while telling her what a perfect princess she was. Thusfar, mama number two has not yet whelped.
I find myself longing to know the names of these two dogs (thinking they would enjoy hearing them) and wondering if they are missing their favorite humans. Clearly, both had been well socialized and cared for with sleek shiny haircoats and substantial body weights. And why were they given up? Were all of these dogs simply victims of tough economic times? Perhaps the prospects of finding homes for so many nonpurebred pups was daunting. The good news is that these mothers found their way to a “birthing center” where they and their pups would be well cared for.
While we are awaiting the arrival of litter number two, plans are in the works to place moms and pups with one or two Rottweiler rescue organizations. The big-hearted people who run such rescue organizations (some are breed-specific, others are not) are intent on making sure that needy dogs get second chances. If interested in an adult Rottweiler (who will need to be spayed) or mixed breed pup, feel free to contact me via my website- www.speakingforspot.com.

Good News for Skye

02.09.2009

Well, what a weekend we had. Skye being the terrier she is wouldn't take "wait" for an order. Steve left the gate open for a second (he didn't know she was out and didn't check first), and Skye took herself for a walk.

On another note, Skye's blood tests came back, and we are reducing her Sodium Bromide from 3.75ml twice a day to 3.50ml twice a day. Thank you BioPreparation.

Not only that, I am on the BioSuperfood, which is the human version and got a pleasant surprise last night. Have you ever had one of those moments when you walk into a room and forget what you went to get? I have been having that issue lately, and while scientists say we humans begin to lose our memory at 30, I am now 53 and it doesn't feel right to me that I should forget what I opened the refrigerator door for.

I used to be great with names, but if I haven't see someone for a few years, I can forget their name. This is one that has bothered me a lot. Last night Steve and I were discussing older friends that we haven't seen since we moved here (almost 5 years ago now). Not only did I remember their last name, I remembered both their first names, and as neither of us have known them for long and poor Steve was fishing for a name or two, they popped right into my head.

I also seem to have a clearer head in the morning when it used to take me a few pushes on the snooze button, just to get going. Now I hop out of bed and get going with the first alarm. This morning I even got up with Steven at 6:00am and I still feel great (usually I am ready to crash by 9:00 in the evening). Stay tuned for our next installment. Bless you and yours, be they two or four-legged. Ruthie

A Book You Should Read

02.03.2009

As part of my job, I read quite a few books. One has come across my desk that you absolutely must read if you live with a dog. It is called "Speaking for Spot, Be the Advocate Your Dog Needs to Live a Happy, Healthy, Longer Life" and is written by Dr. Nancy Kay, Specialist, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Below is an excerpt from Speaking for Spot that I found in the Table of Contents.

The 10 Commandments of Veterinary Office Visits:

1. Thou Shalt Push Thy Veterinarian off Her Pedestal
2. Thou Shalt be Present
3. Thou Shalt Let the Staff Know if Thy Dog is Aggressive
4. Thou Shalt Provide Information
5. Thou Shalt Confess Everything
6. Thou Shalt Pause for Confusion
7. Thou Shalt Share Thy Concerns
8. Thou Shalt Ask Questions
9. Thou Shalt Treat the Entire Staff Well
10. Thou Shalt Always Come Away with a Plan

I have not read the entire book as of yet, but I must tell you that Dr. Kay writes with a compassion, understanding and insight that I have only found in a few of the veterinarians I have been privileged to know. She truly understands the bond we humans find ourselves with when we bring a dog into our lives, and she does not belittle it or make light of it.

She addresses everything from Medical Advocacy, Medical Decisions, Finding Dr. Wonderful and Your Mutt's Mayo Clinic, Office Visits, Tests, Vaccinations, Important Questions to Ask Your Vet & How to Ask Them, Cancer, Second Opinions, Money and the really tough one Euthanasia.

She also discusses Common Symptoms, and Common Diseases and there is even a Resource Section.

God bless you Dr. Kay.

Pittsburgh Steelers Win The Super Bowl

02.02.2009

Hello again everyone. The Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl yesterday. But it was a close won game and was only won within the last three minutes of the game. For all you Arizona Cardinal fans, your team played one heck of a game, and you should be very proud of them. The Vikings got to the playoffs, and choked. So don't feel bad, you have a great team and there is always next season. Keep the faith.
